AI-Generated Content Policy

1. Purpose

The International Journal of Green Pharmacy (IJGP) recognizes the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist in academic writing, data analysis, and figure preparation. However, to ensure academic integrity, transparency, and accountability, the following policy governs the use of AI in submitted manuscripts.

2. Permitted Uses of AI Tools

Authors may use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard, Grammarly, Midjourney) only for:

  • Language editing, grammar correction, or improving readability.

  • Generating figures, diagrams, or visual abstracts, provided these are clearly labeled and sources acknowledged.

  • Assisting in literature searches or data processing, with human verification.

3. Prohibited Uses of AI Tools

Authors must not:

  • Use AI to generate original research content (e.g., results, discussion, or conclusions) without full human verification.

  • Submit AI-generated content without proper review and editing by the authors.

  • List AI tools as authors or co-authors.

  • Fabricate or falsify data using AI tools.

4. Disclosure Requirement

Authors must explicitly disclose any use of AI in manuscript preparation in the “Acknowledgments” section, including:

  • Name of the AI tool used.

  • Version number (if available).

  • The specific role it played (e.g., language polishing, figure generation).

Example statement:

“Portions of the text were edited for grammar and clarity using ChatGPT (OpenAI, version GPT-4). All content was reviewed and approved by the authors.”

5. Author Accountability

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all manuscript content, including AI-assisted sections.

  • Any errors, plagiarism, or ethical violations resulting from AI use will be treated as author misconduct.

6. Editorial Rights

  • IJGP reserves the right to screen manuscripts for AI-generated content using detection tools.

  • Manuscripts with undisclosed AI-generated content may be rejected or retracted.

7. Ethics Compliance

  • AI use must comply with IJGP’s general Ethical Guidelines and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards.

  • Authors should ensure that AI-generated text does not infringe copyright or contain biased, discriminatory, or unverified claims.
